Ski... Stony Clove is minutes away from four ski resorts Rental equipment is available at each of the mountains. However, we reccomend stopping at Potter Brothers as you take exit 19 (Kingston) from the NY Thruway. Grab your gear on your way to Stony Clove it will save you time and money. You will have your gear with you and you will be ready to go in the morning. Alternatively, you can head into Hunter and grab your gear from Snow Bird, The Pro Ski-n-Ride, or Hunter Mountain Outfitters. Outdoor activities... Stony Clove creek runs at the back of the property. Bring your waders and your fly gear and tackle the trout. If you don't have your own gear, you can rent some gear in Phoenicia. There is great information regarding the Esopus and all the creeks that feed it over at Fly Fishing Connection and The Perfect Fly. Better still link up to Oleh's Guide Service or check out the Catskill Mountain Club's page for more nearby guides. Morne Imports (845)688-7738 in Phoenicia will also provide you with all the gear you need and even guide services. Hunting... Hunters will enjoy the vast 700,000 acres of the Castkill Forest preserve perfect for hunting. Deer, Black Bear, Wild Turkey, Waterfowl, Migratory Game birds, Small Game and Furbearers are all open for hunting during their appropriate seasons. Be sure to check the NYDEC website for appropriate seasons, regulations, and maps. A good guide is always a good idea.
